Exposed

An exposed shower is one where all the pipework, valve and shower are on display and mounted onto a wall.

They are easier to install and service and more affordable than their recessed counterparts.

Recessed

A recessed shower is one where the pipework and main body of the valve is concealed in the wall.

They are more visually appealing for a minimal aesthetic, space saving and easier to clean than the exposed variety.

1, 2, 3 & 4 Outlets

Different shower configurations require a different number of outlets.

1 outlet showers provide water for a single shower head or overflow filler and are accompanied by a temperature control knob.

2 outlet showers provide water to two shower heads (a handset and overhead), or one shower head and a bath overflow filler. They have a temperature control knob and a diverter knob.

3 outlet showers are the same as a 2 outlet shower, with the addition of a third element, either a secondary setting on the overhead shower head or a bath overflow filler.

4 outlet showers are the same as 3 outlet showers, but allow for the operation of both a secondary setting on the overhead shower and bath overflow filler.

Push Button

This style of shower features push button controls in the place of a diverter knob. This means that the outlets can flow simultaneously if multiple buttons are pressed.

Some, like the Flova GoClick, also allow for flow control, when the push button is twisted.

Electric

This type of shower heats water by an electric heating element, meaning they only require a cold water supply and do not take hot water from a boiler or tank. They require good water pressure, either from a combi-boiler or shower pump.

Digital

A digital shower controls temperature and flow electronically, allowing for precise temperature adjustment. They come with a digital display panel and some allow for profile customisation for each user, as well as smart phone compatibility.

There are pumped options available for low-pressure or gravity fed systems.

Body Jets

Body jets are a shower component designed to deliver a targeted spray of massaging water to different areas of the body. They are available in both exposed and recessed configurations.

Column

Shower columns are a type of exposed shower with built-in shower heads, valves and bodyjets. They often require a high pressure water system due to the number of outlets.
